The UNIWHEELS logistics centre will be among the largest and most efficient wheel centres throughout Europe and all of the UNIWHEELS Group’s logistics activities in the accessories market will be concentrated there.
On the roof of the new distribution centre, a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system will be commissioned. As a result, the criteria for DGNB gold certification, the highest category of the German Sustainable Building Council, have also been met. Solar energy covers approx. 1% of the energy needs of the town of Bad Dürkheim.
“The dynamic and target-oriented cooperation of all those involved enabled a record construction time of just 4 months through to the topping out ceremony and thus confirmed us in our choice of partner and location,” highlighted Simone Maier-Paselk, Aftermarket manager for the UNIWHEELS group, in her speech. The choice of location is a clear acknowledgement of the traditional location of Bad Dürkheim where the headquarters are also located and so not only guaranteeing valuable jobs. The conveniently situated location also supports the ideal and rapid collection or delivery of up to 20 000 wheels on peak days.
At the same time as the planned completion of the logistics centre and central warehouse in autumn 2012, global sales operations and all of the logistics of the group’s brands ATS, RIAL, ALUTEC and ANZIO will be joined together centrally in the new company UNIWHEELS Leichtmetallräder (Germany) in Bad Dürkheim. All important functions concerning the customers will be integrated at one location. UNIWHEELS will thus be able to give its customers shortened reaction and delivery times, which will further improve our already good service.
